The genesis of AIFA can be traced back to the recognition of the need for a dedicated fund to boost major infrastructure development in Assam. The Government of Assam, through a notification in the Finance (Budget) Department, constituted AIFA on October 6, 2009, with its registered office at CM Block, Janata Bhawan, Dispur. The society was initially formed with 8 (Eight) Governing Body members with Honourable Chief Minister as the Chairman of the committee to oversee its operations. Currently, the Assam Infrastructure Financing Authority is guided by 2 (Two) apex bodies; the Governing Body and the Executive Committee. The 13 (Thirteen) member Governing Body is chaired by the Honourable Chief Minister, while the 9 (Nine) member Executive Committee is chaired by the Honourable Finance Minister
